Banking Meets Rhythm: Diebold Nixdorf Intersect 2025 in Nashville

There’s something magical about Nashville.

Not just because it’s the home of country music and songwriting legends. And not just because live music already floats through the air when you land at the airport. It’s because Nashville knows how to turn a story into a moment. A song into a movement.

That’s exactly what happened at Diebold Nixdorf’s Intersect 2025 — where over three days, retail bankers, credit union leaders, and industry leaders came together to tune into the future of financial services.

I’ve been working with Diebold Nixdorf since 2007, and I am still humbled and incredibly excited every single time I get to moderate one of their events. The combination of exceptional locations, intimate settings and a fantastic audience gets me every time.

Day One: From Disruption to Rhythm

We kicked things off with a keynote that pulled no punches: George Humphrey from TSIA laid out the “non-negotiable transformations” shaping the future of tech. Transformation really isn’t a buzzword, in this day and age, it’s a survival strategy.

And then, as only Nashville can deliver, Benji Harris and his band launched into a musical keynote, marking the perfect intro for the new Diebold Nixdorf Branch Automation Solutions. I still have that song in my head…B.A.S….B.A.S….

That spirit carried into the next sessions led by DN Rockstars Michele Riley and Michael Engel, who gave all the details on what the Branch Automation Solutions portfolio really is and how to leverage its potential.

Day Two: Putting the Customer Back in the Conversation

If Day 1 was about tech, Day 2 was about people.

We started with a challenge from Steven Van Belleghem: in an AI-driven world, how do we keep customer relationships meaningful? What happens when machines outperform humans in empathy, speed, and convenience?

The answer: it’s not about replacing people — it’s about designing better experiences.

We explored how macroeconomic trends are reshaping local branches with PwC’s Lane Martin and Zain Siddiqui, and heard directly from a panel of banking CEOs about what’s really keeping them up at night.

In a panel discussion I was honored to moderate, we made “The Case for Cash”, introducing the Payment Choice Coalition and Payment Choice Act. Panelists Jeff Thinnes, Kurt McMaken, and Joe Myers made the argument that the freedom of payment choice is crucial— especially when it comes to fair and inclusive banking.

Day Three: Change Is a System

By the time we got to Day 3, you could feel it in the room: this wasn’t just about products anymore. It was about perspective.

The fireside chat with Diebold Nixdorf leadership gave us a refreshingly candid look at what’s ahead — from strategy to operational excellence to the big-picture “why” that drives it all.

In the closing keynote, Dr. Jessica Kriegel reminded us that change doesn’t have to be chaos or overwhelming. It can be measured. Structured. Led with intention. Her four-step model for adaptive alignment inspiring and her delivery was full of positive energy, just what we need to close this amazing event.

The Final Chord

So what will I remember most from Intersect 2025?

Not just the tech. Not just the talks. But the people.

People like Michele Riley, guiding panels with humor and precision. People like Michael Engel, connecting software to customer value with clarity. And every participant who stood up, asked a hard question, or shared a story over coffee.

In the end, Nashville reminded me once again that transformation doesn’t happen in PowerPoints. It happens in conversations — backed by rhythm, trust, and human connection.

Thanks for letting me be your host.

See you at Intersect 2026.
